Stainless Steel Board Care
Stainless steel cutting boards are virtually maintenance-free compared to wood, but proper care keeps them looking sharp and preserves your knife edges.
Daily Cleaning
- Hand Wash: Wash with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge or microfiber cloth immediately after prep.
- Dishwasher Safe: Unlike timber, stainless steel handles high-heat commercial and domestic dishwasher cycles without warping, cracking, or degrading.
- Dry Immediately: Wipe dry with a clean cloth to prevent mineral spots or water marks from hard tap water.
Removing Stains, Odors & Water Spots
- Baking Soda Paste: Mix equal parts baking soda and water to scrub away stubborn food residue without scratching the metal.
- Vinegar Spray: Mist with white distilled vinegar to eliminate lingering water spots, fingerprints, and natural odors.
- Grain Direction: Always rub or scrub in the direction of the metal’s brushed finish to maintain a uniform look.
What to Avoid
- Steel Wool & Wire Brushes: Avoid abrasive metal scouring pads, which will gouge and scratch the smooth surface.
- Prolonged Salt Contact: Do not leave heavy salt or highly acidic juices sitting on the board for extended periods, as prolonged exposure can cause micro-pitting over time.
